Dr. Lara Rose is a multidisciplinary artist and scholar whose work encompasses visual arts, poetry, music, and academia, deeply rooted in Yoruba culture. She earned her PhD from Leeds Beckett University, where her research focused on exploring Yoruba culture, philosophy, spirituality, and art aesthetics, aiming to integrate these elements into contemporary artistic practices. In her artistic endeavors, Dr. Rose has created significant works such as a life-size sculpture of Dr. Geraldine Connor, believed to be the first public sculpture of a Black individual in Leeds. This piece reflects her commitment to representation and the celebration of Black figures in public art.Dr. Rose’s contributions extend to literature, with her poetry featured in the anthology “Weighted Words,” published by Peepal Tree Press. Her writings often explore themes of identity, heritage, and the fusion of cultural narratives.
